First Race(s) - this Sunday!!

Hope to see some Gliders at our race this Sunday at Skyway. It is going to be a great event. 11am - 5K classic race, and 12:30pm - 5K skate race. (Pick one to do. Older kids (middle school/high school) can try both!)

GMNC will have soup and goodies as usual, and remember, it's no cost for kids to race. (donations for grooming are always appreciated though).

Wax cold!

Boulder Nordic Sport will also be there with ten tents of equipment for people to demo.

We are also having a Gliders session at Skyway this Saturday at 10am. Meet us up there to play in the snow. Dress in layers! It will be cold up there.

Casey Wins Barneloppet, and Gliders learn to Skate

Despite the nasty driving conditions, the weather at the top of the Grand Mesa proved to be fun winter conditions for the Barneloppet (the kids race).

Our very own Glider, Casey, was the first skier across the finish line (by a lot!) at the Barneloppet 2K. He started with a great double-pole, and took an early lead, which just got greater as the race went on. Today (Tuesday) is Casey's birthday - and what a nice early birthday present he gave himself by working so hard in the race!

Here are some pictures:

The start of the race.

Casey opens up a huge lead.

Gold medal

The previous week, the Gliders learned a new discipline - skate skiing. They all picked it up quickly, and we had fun playing a game of sharks and minnows at the end of our lesson.
