Gliders and GMNC Race Day: January 30, 2011
12:30pm - coaches and volunteer meeting at race staging area
1:00pm - 2.5K race (Winslow-Lions Loop) (ages 9 and up)
1:30pm - 1K race (7-8 yr. olds)
1:45pm - J6 Partner Relay Race (ages 6 and under)
2:00pm - Gliders group picture, awards for Little Gliders, and picnic
Notes: Children do NOT have to be Gliders to participate in the race. Gliders are encouraged but are not required to race. All children will be given a ribbon for participating. J6 race has a skill emphasis and will not be scored. 1K and 2.5K races will be timed so that skiers can see improvements over the years. When not racing, we encourage skiers to cheer on the other Gliders who are racing. All Little Gliders will recieve an end of the year award from their coach and a success report.
Parent instructions:
Parking lot will be very full from 10:30am-12:30am as the college and citizens’ 10K classic race will be going on
Arrive early enough (recommended 12:45 for ages 9 and up and 1:00 for all others) to pick up your child’s race bib and warm up
Please bring a sack lunch for your child for the picnic
Make sure your child is dressed in layers (so they can take off top layer for the race and put it back on after the race)
If you have an extra tarp, please bring it for kids to sit on during the picnic.
