If your child enjoys racing, GMNC and/or the Gliders offers several other race opportunities for junior skiers this season, and we'd love to have your participation:
January 29th - there will be a junior heat during the Mesa State Sprint race. The course is 1K (about .6 of a mile). Junior racers should arrive before 11:15am to sign up, get a race number, and warm up. Junior start time will be in between college heats. For you parents, there will be a fun vintage ski race (anyone have wooden skis) on the same course which will start at 11:30. Costumes are encouraged!
Jan. 30th - the Gliders junior races will start at 1pm, after the Mesa State and GMNC 10K classic race
Feb.12th - some Gliders will be traveling to Aspen to race in the children's ski festival races. There will be a 1K race for the youngest skiers and a 3K race for the older juniors (classic). The races begin around 11am. Please let me know if you are interested in bringing your child, and I will give you more information and sign him or her up with the team. Our middle school age Gliders will be racing on Feb. 13th as well, in the skate race (similar distances).
March 5th - the Barneloppet at Skyway, 11am. races only for kids! Different distances, depending on age/ability. This is a very well attended ski day on the Grand Mesa.
March 12th - The Mesa Meltdown, 5K (at Skyway).
